About CBT and CBH

What is CBT
CBT is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It’s a way of talking about:

• How you think about yourself, the world and other people
• How what you do, affects your thoughts and feelings

CBT can help you to change how you think and subsequently what you do.

It’s focused on the here and now – looking at ways of improving your state of mind now.

We make sense of your issues by breaking them down into smaller parts:

• A situation, event of problem
• Thoughts
• Emotions/moods
• Physical feelings
• Actions

Each of these affects the other – how you think about an issue affects how you feel physically and emotionally and what you subsequently do about it. When we identify and understand the connections we change them to result in thinking, feeling and acting differently.

These changes can help you feel better about yourself, about how you think people see you and about how you see the future.

CBH Sessions
CBH is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy. It’s a combination of CBT and Hypnosis.

During your sessions I will explain to you how and why we think like we do (Negative Automatic thoughts, Cognitive Disorders), you will carry out tasks such as Activity Schedules and Thought Records, and you will set your own Goals and Tasks.

You will also receive hypnosis to help you to change your mind about how you see yourself and your life. When you are depressed, or when you have been stuck in the same routine of thinking and acting for some time, it is often hard to do the homework associated with the CBT sessions. By combining hypnosis with CBT we help you become more focused, positive and motivated. This will increase your self-esteem on a subconscious level, helping you carry out, and stick to, your goals.

Final Outcome
You will not only feel more motivated and confident to make the changes you want to make, and see those changes happening already, but you will also have been given certain skills and tools that you can use in the future should you slip back into previous negative thoughts and behaviour.
